producer. educator. culture writer.
Hey! I’m Alexis Haut. I am a podcast producer, writer and educator based in Brooklyn. I specialize in projects that focus on sports, equity and pop culture.
I am currently the Managing Audio Producer at Design Observer, where I also write a monthly film column.
I previously worked as a Senior Producer at Fortune Media, where I produced the Signal Award Winning podcast Where’s My Village?
I’m also a Master’s Candidate in Film and Media Cultures at the CUNY Graduate Center, where I also serve as a co-chair of the Cinema Studies Group and as a member of the Film Advisory Council.
Prior to my production career, I spent seven years teaching, leading teachers and coaching basketball in middle schools in Brooklyn and Newark before independently producing my first podcast series New York, I Love You But You’ve Changed in 2018. I also produced the 2019 B Free Award Winning podcast, Appropriate: Stories from the Grey Area of Consuming Culture as part of BRIC’s podcasting fellowship. In December of 2020, the pilot of my original show Ball is Business ran as a finalist in iHeartRadio’s Next Great Podcast competition.
I love the Knicks, the WNBA, hip hop, watching movies and TV shows as soon as they air (I hate being left out of cultural conversations), Rihanna, New York Magazine, summer, going to the movies, music journalism, and music videos.
